Hi Julie, Thanks for your feedback which is always appreciated. In trying the LP with school age kids my objective was to see if I could reduce stuttering to a level acceptable to the child by using a simple approach that would perhaps take less time. This was in response to limitations in service delivery in Canada that sometimes restrict the number of hours we have to treat CWS. I wanted to see if I could use the LP without any 'add ons'. I only tried fluency shaping as a 'knee jerk' reaction to problem solving but Tom pushed me to consider other ways of solving the problem while keeping the treatment simple. He was right. There was also no need for discussion of avoidances in this case. If I were to consider adding components such as a desensitization stage to this treatment it could no longer be considered the LP. However, this should not stop you from exploring ways in which to use verbal feedback within the context of your own work with school age CWS. In my own work with school age children I prefer to start simple but would not rule out adding a fluency shaping target or other if it were indicated as part of the problem solving discussion between me, parent and child. Does this answer your question?
