The parent is trained throughout the treatment. The clinician trains the parent at each step of the treatment by first demonstrating and then watching the parent do the demonstrated step and giving supportive/helpful feedback that will assist the parent in doing the treatment at home. Of course this answer is very simplistic but I can't go into too much detail here. One of the things I like best about this approach is the close supportive relationship that develops with the parent during treatment.
