The Palin PCI which you refer to is an indirect parent training program. Although parents are trained in both approaches, the Lidcombe Program is a direct behavioral approach that trains parents in two main aspects: providing verbal contingencies for fluency and for unambiguous moments of stuttering and making daily perceptual severity ratings that inform progress throughout treatment and become a mode of communication regarding many aspects of the treatment. I agree that parental involvement and support is one of the important factors in treatment of stuttering as well as other communication disorders and thank you for your comments.
