After reading this article, it sparked some interest into the role a parent can play in the therapy of a child that stutters. I wanted to learn more about the Lidcombe Program so I referenced a chapter from the book "Stuttering Research and Practice: Bridging the Gap” by Ratner and Healey. The particular chapter I reviewed was "Lindcome Program of Early Stuttering" written by Onslow and Packman. This brought some better understanding of the subject. It makes sense to me that this program could be applied to school age children, because parents are likely to still spend the most time with the children during the day. If parents are involved actively in the therapy process then they can be seen by the child as a stable pillar that is there to support and teach them during a moment of stutter.
