Dr. Shenker I found your article very intriguing. To conduct a study using a treatment program designed for younger children on school-aged children was very interesting. I did more research in order to find out if others had done similar studies to yours. A study I found similar to yours was conducted in Iran on an 8 year 11 month year boy who was bilingual. This study was done by Mehdi Bakhtiar and Ann Packman. He stuttered equally in both languages. He had never had any other speech therapy before the study of using the Lidcombe Program and had been stuttering for 2 years. By the end of this study his results were very similar to those of a preschool child, supporting the fact that with some adjustments the Lidcombe Program can work for both school-aged children and children who are bilingual. The link to this article is http://content.karger.com/ProdukteDB/produkte.asp?doi=10.1159/000241880 The title of the article is “Intervention with the Lidcombe Program for a Bilingual School-Age Child Who Stutters in Iran.” Do you believe that research not only needs to continue for using the Lidcombe Program in school-aged children but also in children who are bilingual?
