Traci, You asked whether or not a client working on phone calls might be more comfortable first calling familiar people on the phone. Your questions is a good one, and I would answer by saying it depends on the client's personal preference. When I work with a client to set up a hierarchy of steps of phone calling, I ask them to list specific types of calls in order of comfort level. So, if they would feel more comfortable calling known individuals first, then that is where we'd begin. In thinking back over the clients with whom I've worked on phone calls, most seem to prefer doing calls where they do not know the recipient at all, hence calls to the pharmacy or department store to ask about the hours or if they carry a certain product. That does not mean that any specific person would find that easier than calling familiar people. Leaving it up to the client gives them ownership, and allows them to explore the reasons why one type of call might be easier/more difficult than another. Thanks for reading my paper--best wishes, Lynne
