I really enjoyed your article about celebrating the “I did it” moments and helping clients recognize their progress in therapy. As a new clinician it’s easy for me to forget that clients and parents may not be seeing the progress that I am. I’ve already been guilty of simply telling parents that their child is “doing well.” Thanks to this article, I’ll be sure to plan treatment to include client awareness and recognition of progress in the future! I have a couple of questions about implementing this strategy with young children. Do you feel this technique works just as well with very young children (3-5yrs) since they may not be able to develop meaningful goals for themselves? Also, what types of goals/ achievement hierarchies have you used for this age group in the past? Thank you for your time!
