I found your paper extremely interesting and very eye-opening. Outlining the goals and having the client direct the therapy is a great way to get the client motivated with changing their speech. I’ve always been told that you can’t get someone to change something if they aren’t motivated. This way, the client knows when and how they have accomplished something. Sometimes it can be easy to forget to acknowledge adults in therapy since their motivation and “prize” may be different than for younger children but it is just as important. If the clients (or parents) don’t see or recognize that change (even little) has been made, their motivation may decrease and they may become discouraged.
