[[I think as the article points out, the journey of acceptance is one thing we all have in common.]]. . . Megan, yes, we all seek a place, whether it be with someone or a group, where we can safely live free of pretense and in communion. We all want to be happy, and what we do day-to-day is what we think will make us happy. That includes even the outrageous, silly, and, sometimes, regretable things which drive the people around us to tears or anger. I find remembering that helps me to relate better to friends, relatives, and strangers. Then I am less likely to be irritable, hurt, or discouraged when they do not act as I wish them to. You might find that keeping im mind that our common desire to be happy is the basic motivator of all our thoughts and behavior helpful as you assist clients to meet their needs. /// The journey is not always as we wish and certainly not always pleasant, but, in hindsight, it is beautiful. /// Best wishes for yours.
