[[I wanted to ask if you have any tips for beginning clinicians who want to incorporate mindfulness into therapy. Thank you!]] /// Andrea, I'm so glad you are thinking about the possibility of introducing mindfulness into therapy. Perhaps, you are thinking about helping the client or the client's parents or partner take on the practice. That could be quite helpful. But, before you go that route, I would suggest that you start with yourself if you are not already practicing mindfulness. There are two chief reasons I say that: (1) A clinician practicing mindfulness will help create a clinical atomosphere that is respectful to all involved, which will promote healing and (2) Advocating that another practice mindfulness without first having personal knowledge of what is involved may lead to an inappropriate recommendation or two that may unnecessarily and unfortunately weaken the client-clinician relationship. /// So, if you are considering introducing mindfulness into your clinical work with children and adults, I would suggest to you that you take up the practice to better understand what is involved. And you very well may find that doing so helps you find increased satisfaction in what you do. /// Thank you for this very fine question.
