[[How long did it take you to realize that stuttering wasn't the only thing that defined you? Was there an ah-ha! moment that you realized there was much more to you or was it years of therapy?]] Dear Anonymous SLP, It is true we live in interesting times! Perhaps, we are fortunate in that respect, since "May you live in interesting times!" is offered as a blessing in some cultures. One feature of our times, at least in the West, has been our fascination with others' lives --- the famous, the infamous, and the ordinary --- what they do and with whom and when, what they wear, what they drive, where they live, where they travel, their health, their relationships, their financial worth, and so on. In the process, we, in ways big and small, pattern ourselves after others trying to live vicariously rather than appreciating and developing our own precious life and encountering the challges that are inherent in personal development. This, to me, is a tradgedy personally and collectively. /// And so, in that spirit, I challenge you to take time, quiet time, for yourself daily to become acquainted with yourself rather than to provide you with the information about me that you requested. I hope you won't feel too badly about me for doing so. Ellen-Marie Silverman
