This is an interesting topic and one that needs planning. Let me turn your minds to Toastmasters International (or any speaking clubs). Toastmasters International is an ever expanding Association with inter club / country competitions. They exist to help improve communication and leadership skills. Meetings are well attended. There is an Agenda for every meeting. People are requested to fill the meeting roles in advance (sometimes several meetings in advance). This gives them something to prepare and plan. This encourages them to come to meetings. You need a club committee who share out the ‘behind the scenes tasks’ (Leadership). If you have an education officer, who is responsible for filling the roles, who makes sure that different roles are shared between members, then everyone has equal opportunity. Based on these planning efforts attendances may keep at the same level and even increase as word spreads about how much fun you all have speaking in the different roles. People (PWS as well Lol) like to be active participants at the meetings they attend. They like to do things or be in charge of things. THEY LIKE TO ATTEND IF IT HELPS THEM. This is the experience of Toastmasters. If SHG coordinators set up their meeting on these kinds of lines, it would not harm, it may help. There are these kinds of communication / leadership clubs in every country. Consult with them. They will be pleased to help. However, contact me if you want to look at this kind of model with other PWSs first. Keith (keithmaxkb@yahoo.com or SKYPE keithmaxkb)
