Hi Kayla - thanks for your post. Yes, I have found that many (although not all) of my young clients are not predisposed to 'advertise' their stuttering to peers or even 'safe' adults (such as teachers and the like.) Every kiddo is different, but I have had some success with first just modeling and encouraging age-appropriate dialogues about what stuttering is and isn't. My young clients typically become 'stuttering experts' long before we work directly on modifying stuttered moments. Lots of voluntary stuttering can also do wonders.
