Thanks very much for your post. I think you'll find the answer to your question RE: typical teacher reaction under my reply to Traci P. On the peer front - it really depends on the kiddo - many variables to consider. If you have a specific case/example, I can certainly try to increase the specificity of my response here. In my experience, many of my young clients have been much more willing to share with teachers and other 'safe' adults before sharing with peers. I have handled this in a variety of ways, including inviting preferred classmates to therapy for peer education, very scripted/hierarchical voluntary stuttering activities including peers, co-created classroom in-services, and just promoting an open, honest dialogue about what stuttering is and isn't.
