I found your article both interesting and frustrating. As a speech pathologist I have found that I have gotten more help from within the profession from folks that I would have expected but I have also found the profession to hinder me more than any other group. This is due to my blindness. I also stutter overtly sometimes. I have actually found that folks often are put off by my blindness but when they find that I stutter thay simply write me off entirely. I wonder how many folks with multiple "disabilities" find these sorts of compounding problems and which are the worst.
