Hello, thank you for response. In Slovenia we don't really talk about stuttering and problems of PWS. That's why many people don't know what stuttering is and how to react when they hear someone who talks with a stutter. Other people think they know "everything" there is to know about stuttering, but everything they know, they learned from watching movies and listening to jokes about PWS. For example, I had a teacher who thought I stutter, because of the lack of discipline. Everytime I stutterd, she sent me to the corner, faced to the wall, where I staied for many hours. Because the awareness of Slovenian society about stuttering is very low, there are many prejudices by which people who stutter are shy, not very clever, lazy, nervous, unsociable, etc. Also common is seeing a PWS as a person with drinking or hearing problem, also as a psychiatric patient. A few years ago I was looking for an apartment with two other friends. We found a very nice flat, but when the owner heard that I stutter, he said that he intends to rent his flat to people who are in good health condition and are mentally stable. I hope I answered your question. With best wishes, Beata Akerman
