Hi Ruth, Thank you for your generous comments. What’s my age? Let’s just say that when I celebrated my last birthday, the candles cost more than the cake. :-) Yes Ruth, you are correct - I truly believe that the sky is our limit. Personal development occurs when we venture beyond our existing comfort zones. It requires re-drawing our mental maps so that we increase the size of our familiar areas. The only limitations are those that we impose upon ourselves. When we achieve something that we, hitherto, regarded impossible, it causes us to reconsider our limiting beliefs. If we conquer something that has challenged our advancement, we grow in stature. When we overcome hurdles, it opens our eyes to possibilities that we could never have imagined. When we are stretched by a new experience, we likewise grow as human beings. You enquired “Are you a motivational speaker?”. Having addressed several hundred organisations during the past 10 years, my public speaking repertoire has become wide and varied. On a number of occasions, I have been invited to speak to groups comprising stroke victims, or persons affected by medical conditions (such as cancer, Parkinson’s disease and hearing impairment). The responses I receive are overwhelming. I also provide an input into a personal growth programme for police officers, as well as evaluating their oral presentations. (How ironic for someone with lifelong history of stuttering) :-) It’s interesting that you mentioned Anthony Robbins. I have, in fact, addressed a ‘Yes Group’ here in the UK - a gathering of individuals who have attended Anthony Robbins seminars and adhere to his teachings. Ruth, I have heard a great deal about you from John and Anna. I hope that we will be able to chat on some future mutually convenient occasion. Thank you for taking the time to read my paper and participate in the threaded discussion. It is greatly appreciated. Kindest regards Alan
