Thank you for the wonderful article and all of the thoughtful responses, they are helpful in so many ways.I can feel your passion and know that sharing your article will inspire many of my patients and their families. I have also enjoyed what others have written in response to your article, and hope this online conference will continue as we all benifit from learning from each other. I am an SLP and I really enjoy working with people who stutter. I was initally very worried about not being able to really understand what my patients struggle with on a daily basis, but reading about your experiences and others helps me so much. One of the things you wrote in a followup response that really struck me was that "our ability to tolerate short periods of discomfort is the key to change." This is such a powerful message and one that I can't stop thinking about. It seems difficult for me as an SLP and also a mother to think about my patients or my children going through painful things but I know how important and powerful this is. Do you have suggestions for patients who are so stuck that they cannot move out of that fearful place even for a little while? It is a huge question I know, and I am sorry, and I thank you in advance, Julie
