Hahaha, is that really your most intregueing question? :-) Yes, I told you that in the interview you had with me for your famous podcast , still to be found at http://stutterrockstar.wordpress.com/2010/07/01/proud-of-me-finally-episode-11/ (Thanks again for that honor.) Yes, when I was a kid, I wanted to be someone else. I wanted to be a mute because of my heavy stutter. I was also raised in a very protective way, with lots of "should have/do", where my three sisters were raised in a different way than my three brothers. Girls should be ladies. Nice and sweet, help in the house hold, stay clean and do as mum and dad tell you. And boys... will be boys... So I looked up to my brothers and as I was the youngest with my three brothers being next in line, they raised me in their way. I envied them. They were my heroes. I wanted that freedom. I wanted to be a boy, skip household and gardening, do dangerous things, get dirty and pee without having to go home first. (I'm raised in a big city.) I wanted to get rid of that focus being the perfect child. I couldn't speak "properly", so I was asked to keep a low profile. I was clumsy so I was asked not to help in the kitchen. I played my brothers' games but when I got home dirty or damaged my clothes (oh how I hated skirts and dresses...) I was told ladies don't do things like that. I loved my teddies (and still collect stuffed toys, hint... :-)) and hated those cold and hard dolls. Loved to play with cars and hated to knit and sew. And look at me now. I turned out quite allright. I play with steam engines and get dirty. I stutter in public, anytime, enywhere and yo better not tell me to shut up. I can cook and bake, but rather sit behind my computer being social or put a nail in my nose at youth meetings. i (hope I) am a good mother and where a nice dress at parties, but never change a curtain other than to wash them. I am surrounded by stuffed toys 24-7 and... I pee in the Swedish forrest. As Droopy use to say: I'm happy. :-) Pam, it would be so great to see you at the world congress in the Netherlands !!! Do stay tuned and look out for www.stuttering2013.com. I managed to get funding to get to the NSA. Now you get your lovely self to the Netherlands. We have a lot to laugh about. :-) Hugs, Anita Is it true that when you were a kid you wished you could pee like a boy? I am glad to know you as well, and look forward to trying to get to The Netherlands in 2013 to see you again and your homeland. That would bring me great joy!
