Hi Erin. I'm not really sure. Both our countries have people who get it and people who don't and never will. We both have laws against it, but for both it's hard to proof. But when it comes to treatment and research, Sweden has a lot to learn. There is only one official treatment included in insurance. Anything else is for you to pay. And there isn't really that much to choose from either. We have intensive therapy weeks, a group of PWS speech training during weekends and through Skype, 1-2 therapists practicing CBT and NLP and that's about it. We have one certified doctor in stuttering, but most of the research comes from abroad. So in short, we're in the same situation and we have a lot of work to do to change it. So let's all stand up - speak up. Because we have a voice!!! Happy ISAD. Anita Have you noticed any differences in the way people view and treat those who stutter in America compared to Sweden? I feel like in America there is a lot of pressure on people to fit into a certain type of mold and be perfect. Are the same expectations held in Sweden or is it more acceptable to have something different about you, such as stuttering?
