Hi Whitney. Thanks for replying to my paper. The Swedish language on itself wasn't the problem. It's related to Dutch and languages have never been a problem for me. (That's why it really killed me to hear from my teachers it was no use for me to learn languages, as I wasn't going anywhere anyway, and I'm happy to now have proven them wrong by travelling the world talking about stuttering, thanks to my stutter!) I still have a small problem with f ex the "r" sound, otherwise my Swedish is perfect. I stutter more in Dutch, probably because of my past that made the Dutch language more emotionally loaded. I stutter less in English, but more in German and French, probably because I have to think more about the grammer. On the other hand, I know a few words and sentences in Spanish and that is no problem stutterwise. And it's different for other people who stutter. Some stutter more in a different language, maybe because you can't exchange words as easily, others stutter less, maybe because as it's another personality. Now this is only guessing from my side. I don't think there is a proven explanation for this yet. So if you can find someone doing research on that, be my guest. :-) Happy ISAD! Anita
