Hi Janet. Thanks for your kind words. My safety net and hands to hold were people from the stuttering community I couldn't have made it without them. And of course my husband and daughter who have always allowed me to let me stuttering engagements come first. That's why I want to pass it forward. And yes, the reactions will always be there I guess. The "funny" tv show with the PWS drooling and getting mentally and physically abused. The class who burst our into laughter with the teacher just standing by doing nothing. The train conductor wanting to lead me to the train, holding my hand, carrying my bag, simlpy because I stuttered a lot when asking for the platform. I use black humor mixed with pointing with my whole hand (sometimes even laws and regulations) to those who should know, such as decision makers, special need teachers etc. I use stubbornness, such as with the lady behind the counter who won't let me finish my sentence. I use my cool when talking to students and children. I use my charm with elderly people. I use humor with the rest. And... I use my stutter. :-) (Do read my previous paper http://www.mnsu.edu/comdis/isad11/papers/gift11/blom11.html There simply is no rule on how to react to people's reactions to my stutter. It depends on who they are, the situation you're in, the state you're in at that moment... But using humor while letting my skin get thicker and thicker had helped me to get through to people of all kind. Thus my button "S-s-sure I s-s-stutter. What are you good at?" :-) Happy ISAD! Anita
