Anita, I found your story of stuttering to be very motivational and inspiring for all of us, whether we stutter or not. There are many obstacles in life that hold us back and it takes a strong person to find the strength to overcome them. As a graduate student in Speech Pathology at West Virginia University, I had the opportunity to attend several stuttering support group meetings that one of my professors holds once a week. I always enjoyed hearing everyone's unique stories and being able to relate my own experiences of speaking anxiety. It was interesting to meet those who were completely comfortable with their stuttering, those who were on their way to acceptance, and those who were just admitting for the first time that they stuttered. I felt your article perfectly explained that whatever it is in life that is holding you back or making you feel different, you are never alone. You are right when you say, "I have the right to speak. Because I have a voice!" Thanks for sharing your story and helping us all to have a better understanding on the personal experience of a person who stutters.
