Hi Analise. Many of the features you describe have been reported for Germanic and Romance languages (the change from stuttering on what we might generically call function words to content words over ages and the associated change in types of stuttered symptoms). One thing that makes Japanese particularly interesting is that the concept of word form is very different to that in English as it is an agglutinative language whereas the concept of word form can be relatively easily applied to Portugese. I can expand on the structural features of Japanese that I find interesting with respect to stuttering if anyone wishes, but it is quite technical and arguably not relevant to this thread. BTW there is a chapter in the book I cited in my other psot on stuttering in Brazilian Potrugese. Best Peter
