Sarah, your story is so inspiring! But it your perspective that I found particularly refreshing. Your ability to laugh at the situation when you were so rudely treated shows your grace! And turning that grace into a learning experience for the company, it's employees and this forum is truly inspirational. Thank you for sharing it! I don't know if you are aware of the high school student in New Jersey who is taking college courses at a community college and was recently featured in the news because he had been treated in a similar way as you had been by the rude clerk. But, rather than a clerk having dismissed the student's attempts at communication, he was virtually ignored by a TEACHER of one of his AP classes! This teacher had told the student to post his questions to her in e-mail rather than take up time in class because he struggled so much in communicating his thoughts and questions. How narrow minded and short sighted of that teacher to be so dismissive of this student's individual educational needs as well as the learning opportunity afforded to the class in this very situation! She could have expanded her "lesson plan" to incorporate empathy and acceptance into her curriculum rather than shut down the learning experience for all involved! You and your story are so very inspiring because you have taken your challenges and and experiences and brought them to the forefront of public discussion and awareness to teach us all! Bravo! And, thank you!
