Surely the fact that I stuttered definitely inspired me to become an SLP. I originaly got a BS degree in biology, because it had less people contact, and then I worked for a number of years in a laboratory. It was a very safe environment but I did not feel fullfilled. I really wanted to do something where I worked with people because at heart I am very much of a people person. I considered going back to school to be either a nurse, physical therapist, occupational therapist or a SLP. The latter won out as that was where my heart was. So at the age of thirty, I entered graduate school to be an SLP. Although it was challenging at times because of my stutter and later SD, I definitely found fullfillment in the work that I did as an SLP. Thanks for your question.
