We have been learning and exploring several possible theories about the causes of stuttering. I am interested in the "nature verse nurture" debate, especially twin studies because it can tell a lot about how genetics interacts with the environment. For stuttering, most twins are studied that live in the same household, but are there any significant findings about twins that were separated at birth? Stuttering is definitely genetic with a physiological component, but would studying twins raised in different areas help explain how the environment affects stuttering?
