Thank you for expanding on your comment. I agree completely with the statements you made, especially the importance of etiological research and its basis for treatment. I suppose the first comment made about "getting stuck," pertained more to the implications of etiological research on finding a "cure." My interpretation of Julie's first comment was such that if a cause was determined, she would be afraid that more efforts would be made to discover a "cure" than to determine a plan for treatment. While I don't necessarily believe this to be true, I have witnessed this thought process in other populations. I would hope that etiological research would prove beneficial for treatment approaches, as you illustrated, and aid in substantiating empirical evidence for therapy paradigms and methodologies. I apologize if there was a misunderstanding concerning the importance of this research. I only meant to interpret her comment, as I believe scientific inquiry for both etiology and management should be integrated.
