We found the same GNPTAB gene mutation in the U.S. population that we found in Pakistani families, but so far only in U.S. families with an ancestry in Pakistan and India. We've found other mutations in these genes in both Pakistani and U.S. subjects. For example we've found one mutation in the NAGPA gene a number of times, and all of these individuals are of European ancestry.
