These questions are among those at the forefront of genetic research on stuttering, I think. Unfortunately we don't have answers to them yet, but we're starting the gather data that may help to answer them. Personally, I feel that things like diet are less likely to affect gene expression in the brain, which is highly insulated from the rest of the body by virtue of something called the blood-brain barrier. However the idea that speech therapy could affect gene expression in the brain is a very valid and interesting idea. We'll have to wait and see.
