Tom, I feel strongly that Skyping is significantly different than telephone. So much of stuttering is the "unheard", so to be able to see a client provides much more information. When I am working with a client on Skype, it also feels so much more personal than on the phone. We see each others smiles and body language. It is almost like being there in person. This is so important for relationship building. I have one client with whom I "have a cup of coffee with" during therapy. We both come prepared with a good cup. This builds relationship AND works toward generalizing learned skills in real life... since having conversation with coffee is a part of this clients real life. It also make the move to therapy while the client is at Starbucks (again think working in the client's real world) one step closer.
