Dale - Thanks for reading our article. I hope I am clear in my answer to you. I would anticipate that most potential clients - teens who stutter and their parents - would have unsuccessfully experienced a number of types of Fluency Shaping, Stuttering Modification and/or Hybrids of these types of therapies before considering the therapy approach Kevin and I are offering. When I speak with TWS and their parents, I share with them the possibility - and I believe strong probability - of being able to speak and interact with others freely without the fear of stuttering or the fear of speaking or the perceived expected demands of using speech techniques to stop or control stuttering. When I talk of this type of therapy outcome, I have found TWS and their parents to be very receptive of working together for this goal. To not be afraid to stutter; to not be afraid to speak; to not be expected to use techniques; to speak freely and interact with others independent of whether the TWS stutters or not - When I share these idea's, there is great interest on the part of TWS and their parents. It has been my professional experience that TWS and their parents will "unify" for this purpose. hope this answers your question.
