Sarah - Shortly after I finished my response to you, I was moved to add this as well: It has been my professional and personal experience, as well as professional and personal observation, that for most of us who stutter, technique based/centered therapies never address fear of stuttering, fear of talking or fear of interacting. I have found all fo these to be "major parts" of stuttering. I have also found - both professionally and personally - that when techniques are no longer demanded, required, expected, insinuated implied, etc. in therapy for teens who stutter, and the focus is changed to increasing interaction that results in talking, decreasing/eliminating all aspects that feed on-going & persistent communication apprehension and educating parents to be part of the therapy "solution", that you run a great risk of releasing the natural speech the teen who stutters already posesses!!! OK - I'm done. ;-) !!!
