Denise - Thank you for reading our paper and sharing your thoughts. You pose good questions. I agree with Kevin's response to you regarding working with young children VS teens who stutter. Regarding working with young children who stutter - I strongly recommend parents to read the recently published book by Doreen Lenz Holte titled "VOICE UNEARTHED - Hope, Help, and a Wake-Up-Call for the Parents of Children Who Stutter." As a graduate student, I would also recommend you to read it as well; I would encourage you to share this book with your graduate instructors as well. The book holds tremendous insight and truth for parents to consider when it comes to therapy choices for children who stutter. Regarding teens who stutter and parents - Both parents and the TWS must be actively participating in the therapy process when it comes to the successful treatment of fear of stuttering, fear of talking, and the fear of interacting. The goals of decreasing communication apprehension, increasing talking, and increasing interaction require parents and the TWS to be active participants. We believe our 3-day intensive with teletherapy follow-up can achieve these goals.
