Laura - Thank you for reading our paper and leaving your comments and questions. I am hopeful Kevin will respond to your question as well... We originally discussed this as program for adults who stutter. I believe wholeheartedly that adults who stutter risk getting terrific results in this type of therapy approach. That being said, and to be honest with you, it is MY professional and personal observations that adults who stutter bring years and years and years of what I would call negative beliefs and often poor therapy to the table when they consider the type of therapy Kevin and I believe in. These "layers" of beliefs and negative experiences looking for - and expecting - a "cure" are extremely difficult, challenging and time consuming for both the adult who stutters and the therapist to effectively address. In my private practice I have chosen to work primarily with Children/Teens Who Stutter and their parents. There are other more effective professionals than myself that I would recommend to adults who stutter seeking professional help to address communication apprehension as related to fear of stuttering, fear of speaking and fear of interacting.
