Hi, Genevieve, and thank you for your interesting comment. I think cultural acceptance of personal differences should be a major goal of nations, cultures, and societies. Countries and cultures are all different in this respect, and it is important to do what we can within our own personal experiences and spheres of influence to encourage acceptance of people with differences as equals. My own perspective is that Norway is generally further along with this than is the United States, but there is no question that acceptance of differences (including disabilities/disorders) has taken major leaps forward in the U.S. in the last generation or two.
