I must agree with everyone who has posted thus far- this is an excellent story. Sometimes (because it does not happen often) it can be so refreshing to take a look at "the big picture." Life really is too short. We cannot spend our time trying to satisfy others; we have to do that for ourselves! I also have a question for you, Mr. Goldstein. You mentioned in an earlier post that you have displayed much better speech in Norway than you ever did in the U.S. I certainly do not doubt that your new environment and culture have contributed greatly, but I wonder- could this be, in part, due to the fact that you are surrounded by and using a new language? I realize that there is a genetic factor in stuttering, but do you think that the particular language we speak has anything to do with it? Do bilingual stutterers stutter in both languages? Would an adult stutterer who loses his/her hearing begin to "stutter" when using sign language? Could learning a new language be a beneficial form of therapy? I realize you may not know the answer to all of these questions, but I'm wondering if you have any thoughts. Thank you so much!
