Hello Jessica and Kristen, Thank-you for your interest! I have used scales with children as young as first grade (depending on their language and cognitive abilities to understand the idea of a scale). I develop scales based on the youngsters age and needs. I also use scales with parents in addition to discussion with them about the meaning of the scales, how they feel about what they are learning by using the scales, as well as all of those other variables that are not easily described by the scales.
