Hi, Amy! In my view, the most important development in the treatment of stuttering has been for preschool children, not so much for older children and adults. Despite the fact that society's attitudes towards PWS still need to improve, they are much better than they were forty years ago. At the time when I was being treated the word 'cure' was used slightly differently than today. Then, 'to cure' meant 'to treat' with the expectation that the patient would improve, not necessarily that the person would become totally symptom-free. I often ask my clients to demonstrate different techniques to other people who stutter and students: it gives the clients a lot of confidence, so I find it to be a very important part of the puzzle. Thank you for your words of support.
