I love your personal insight on how you had this defining moment. I think situations such as your National Honor Society speech, are extremely important turning points for many, especially for people who stutter or for anyone with a disorder or disability. These are the type of stories that need to be shared with the people we are providing therapy for. Our failures, struggles, and accomplishments make it seem real and genuine for the person who is in a challenging point in their life. As therapists/doctors/teachers/friends/family/counselors, we need to dig deeper and find out what that person who stutters "really" fears, feels about themselves and what they want to accomplish. Give everyone a chance!
