Mr. Mackesey, I'm a graduate student and I noticed that your main focus was on adults. I don't know if you have any interest in children, but I was wondering if you had considered group therapy or, simply, exposure to others who stutter as a method to prevent anxiety, projection and dissociation in very young children. I understand that most children under 5 who stutter, typically recover. But perhaps for children who are 5-7 years old? Children are so forgiving and accepting when they are that young. It may be beneficial to catch them at a young age and expose them to stuttering so that it becomes a normality rather than the abnormality it is often portrayed as being. There is, of course, no way to protect all stuttering children from the cruelty of the world, but giving them a solid foundation and positive opinion of their own stuttering at a young age couldn't hurt! I enjoyed reading your piece. You made some excellent points! Thank you for sharing, Marissa
