Great article! As a first-year grad student in my first fluency course, I appreciated that you wrote an article that I could understand. I read what you wrote about projecting and personalization, and it just seems like such a self-fulfilling prophecy to me. I can't imagine being paralyzed by that fear. I noticed that earlier in the comments you discussed the power of exposing children who stutter to a group setting, referencing the fact that kids often think they are “the only one” who has a difference, stuttering or otherwise. If they are prepared properly and at an appropriate maturity level, I think that seeing another person speak the way they do can allow them to make strides in acceptance of their own speech.
