Where this is not part of my paper I will comment briefly. Early intervention is so important because we may stop stuttering before all this cognitive stuff ever develops. My website www.fastfluency.com covers my pre-k program. Believe it or not, I teach pre-k kids how to correct their own stutters as they occur. This is known as a "pull-out" with older pws. Counter conditioning behavior RIGHT AS IT HAPPENS is the fastest and most permanent way to promote behavioral change in cws. I do this in play therapy and no stigma is created.
