Dear Pam, I have seen your comments on some of my posts and other posts on TISA blogs. But I was not aware of the fact that you are also a passionate Toastmaster ! Your post was really inspiring and I literally clapped after I finished reading! Thanks for sharing! I am a member of Toastmaster as well for an year now. I am at my Project 6, and looking to achieve my CC by March. Toastmasters have also helped me a lot into learning how communication is much more than just fluency ! It also gave me a friendly and supportive environment to experiment with my speaking skills. It has brought in me a lots of changes... My question to you is, What about the people who are overt stutters? Can things like "Aah counters", "Disqualification because of time", add to the more shame / guilt and fear? As many of the overt stutters may take more time to speak.. Also, what do you think about the idea of Toastmaster chapters in languages other than English? So that even people who dont have english as their first language can also avail the benefits.. ?
