Hello Mr. Nsabimana, I read the paper with you studies about therapy for people in Africa who stutter. It was sad to read about how those in Africa who stutter are picked on so horribly. It is too bad that people find and mistreat others for what they determine to be flaws. Damaging words and actions toward others takes place for various reasons – I never understood how some people can treat others so horribly. It must be overwhelming for you and you cohorts that are doing all you can to bring attention to the lack of services for people who stutter and the great need that there is for these services. I admire what you are working to accomplish and can only give you my sincere compliments. It is great to have people like you in the world who care and who step forward to make a difference. I heard a story that had an impact on me and your efforts remind me of the story. It goes like this: There was once a boy who was walking down the beach, picking up starfish and throwing them into the ocean. An older man asked the boy what he was doing. The boy responded that if he didn’t throw them back into the ocean, they would die. The man laughed and wondered out loud how the boy thought he could make a difference for the starfish, as there were hundreds of them lying on the beach. In response, the boy picked up another starfish, threw it into the ocean, and said, “I made a difference for that one.”
