John, thanks for your comments. You write “I have never been on a McGuire course so I've no axe to grind but it does appear to work for many people and I can't help feeling the establishment are a bit uneasy as a result.” In the stuttering world, it is a bit difficult to know who makes up the “establishment.” Many, many people take courses which include costal breathing. I have the impression that in a country like New Zealand a person may have an easier time finding a costal breathing course than a stuttering modification course. So costal breathing is not exactly un-established. You suggest that we refer to the Del Ferro Institute in Amsterdam. A reasonable suggestion. As I said in a previous post, I chose to discuss the “McGuire Program Unmasked” article because it is very representative of the costal breathing experiences I have heard and read about. Thanks again for your comments and thoughts.
