Kimberly, thanks for taking the time to write and for your kind words about our paper. You ask, “What qualifications Mr. Johnston has pertaining to the field of Communication Sciences and Disorders?” The Mcguire Program website lists Mr. Johnson as the Australian regional director. It states, “Since joining the programme in 1999, Geoff has progressed from being a chronic out-of-control stutterer to becoming a certified primary coach, course instructor, staff trainer and now the Director of the programme in Australia. He is an Accomplished Toastmaster, Silver Level and has won public speaking competitions…” You write, “Since he released the McGuire Program…” We never said this in our paper. In our paper we identified Mr. Johnston as the author of an article titled "The McGuire Programme Unmasked and a “regional director of the McGuire Program.” You ask, “Does he suggest any future research be conducted pertaining to his program and stuttering in general?" I don’t know the answer to that question. Keep in mind that one does not need to be a speech-language pathologist to help stutterers. Many people can help people who stutter. Thanks again for writing
