Do you know of any alternative fluency intervention strategies that provide these types of breathing techniques that have been researched? I would hope that clinicians would utilize evidence-based practice when providing services, however, I know it can sometimes be frustrating to find strategies that work, given that all clients are different. Also, when the article stated that these interventions are not taught by SLPs, but by people who stutter who have participated in the course, I had to wonder how the clients are being taught to reduce their avoidance behaviors using desensitization, etc...when I think that is something that should a licensed professional should do. Thank you for your time!
