Thank you very much for your article. I am a bilingual covert PWS/PWC. I was finally diagnosed at the age of 52 when, as a specialist working with disabled students, I started (covertly) asking questions about my own symptoms: blocks, problems with names and phone calls, etc... My symptoms, evident when I was a child and, due to circumstances, not directly addressed, were later largely reduced by signing (= breathing), piano lessons with metronome (=rhythm, pausing), university course in phonetics (sound formation, intonation) and strong, due to my profession demands, self-monitoring skills. When I was finally diagnosed, I happily rushed to share the finding with the people in my life. To my surprise, because of the covert nature of my speech/language problems, my collegues had an extreme difficulty accepting the fact that I still AM a PWS/PWC. The "dismissing" attitude, especially in "bad speech days", seems to kick in faulty coping mechanisms (isolation,...). What approaches to resolving this situation would you recommend?
