Katie, I don't have any data on this, but what makes sense to me is that as the PWS becomes aware of the reactions of others to their stuttering and is at a stage of social development when they are also aware of how stuttering (or any difference) affects their social "status", that the decision to hide their problem arises. I'll have to talk to my PWSC friends and see what they say. Perhaps we'll get someone else who stutters covertly to respond.
